- Tabernacle Baptist Church and I have received a generous grant from the Lilly Endowment that will fund a sabbatical from September 1 – December 31, 2013. I will use this sabbatical time to immerse myself in the history and culture of Burma (Myanmar), the experience of Baptist Christians in Burma, and the experience of other Baptist congregations in the U.S. that are welcoming refugees from Burma into their fellowships. My plans include an extended visit to Burma. I will post photos and reflections from this experience so that friends and members of Tabernacle Baptist Church and others can follow me during my sabbatical.
